What’s a good credit card for dining out? Obviously, it should help to save more money in restaurants. Take cash back percentage or points back into consideration, here we recommend these five credit cards if you always dine out.
Discover It Card 5% Cash Back
In addition to 1 percent cash back on every day spending, the Discover It card comes with quarterly 5 percent cash back bonus categories. From April to June of 2015 restaurant spending will get the 5 percent cash back boost, up to $1,500 in purchases. You must opt in to receive the quarterly cash back bonus boost. Earned cash back can then be redeemed as a statement credit, a deposit in your bank account, shopping on Amazon or even as a gift card to a large number of retailers. Discover also offers the ability to cash in $20 for a $25 gift card, $40 or $45 for $50 or $80 for $100. This card has no annual fee.
Chase Freedom 5% Cash Back
Similar to the Discover It Card, the Chase Freedom card offers 1 percent cash back on every day spending without limit and 5 percent cash back on up $1,500 spent in bonus categories each quarter. From April to June of 2015, restaurants will be included in the 5 percent bonus category, but card members must opt in for the boost. While this card has no annual fee, it does require users to earn at least $25 in cash back before they can redeem.
Santander Bravo MasterCard 3% Cash Back
Earn 3 points (up to 15,000 points per quarter) for every dollar spent on gas, groceries and restaurants and 1 point per dollar on all other spending with the Santander Bravo MasterCard. Points can be redeemed for airline tickets or gift cards. 10,000 points= $100 gift card, which means cash back bonus categories are capped at $5,000 worth of spending per quarter. This card comes with an annual fee of $49.
American Express SimplyCash 3%-5% Cash Back
With the American Express SimplyCash card you can choose to earn 3% cash back at US restaurants on up to $25,000 in spending per 12 billing cycles from when you 1st opened the card.
You also get 5% cash back at chain restaurants, like Red Robin, The Cheesecake Factory, and Applebee’s, when you buy those gift cards at US office supply stores.
Chase Sapphire Preferred 2%-3% Cash Back
You will also earn 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points at restaurants with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. You can use this for 2% back as a statement credit. When you use your card on the First Friday of the month you’ll earn 3% cash back at restaurants (until the end of 2015).
